An ArtSKey installation process has a several phases from getting of a demo/release copy up to full commercial usage.

1. Installation on HPC
2. Working in demo mode phase
3. Registration phase
4. Activation phase
5. Working in Activated mode phase

• Establish a PC/HPC connection (via RS-232 cable for example).
• Run the ArtSKey's Setup.exe on PC's side.
• Select a keyboard layout.
• Set required options (if enabled): fonts, help and translation files.
• After "Setup complete..." dialog box use a reset button to restart your HPC before the first start of the ArtSKey.
• After installation you can find on HPC's desktop a shortcut to the ArtSkey executable file placed with an artskey.ini settings file into directory \Windows\Programs\ArtSoft\ArtSKey. A help files and fonts (in case of Windows CE v1.0) will be placed in directory \Windows and \Windows\Fonts correspondingly.
• The HPC owner's name is required to start work with ArtSKey. If you have not filled it yet a dialog box will appeared on the screen with the request to enter your name into field "Name" in Control Panel/Owner.
• After the ArtSKey successfully started the "En" icon in right bottom screen corner appeared. It means that the ArtSKey is running and current keyboard layout is "English". To switch to an alternative (local) keyboard you need to press the Ctrl & Shift keys once together and the "Alt" icon in right bottom screen corner will appear.

Initially installed ArtSKey is working in demo mode. The aim of this mode is a basics functions introduction. So you can test it and decide to activate the ArtSKey or not.

The demo mode has the following important limitations:

• Expiration period is 2 weeks at the first starting. After expiration the ArtSKey will not work and on keyboard switching attempt will display the dialog box with "ArtSKey demo version expired" message. To continue the ArtSKey usage you will need to pay, register and activate your copy.

In case of Windows CE v2.0 only:

• Impossible to correctly convert an MS Word documents between PC and HPC.
• Impossible to save a "Pocket Word" document as "Plane Text".
• Impossible to use a national characters in e-mail messages.
• And finally there is impossible to set your national locale in "Control Panel/Regional Settings" setup (it includes the national titles for days of week and months, local formats for date and time).

If for some reasons you have not satisfied after expiration you should uninstall the ArtSKey as it described in "Uninstallation" section.

If you have paid for the ArtSKey you should register the copy installed on your HPC. For that you need to fill the Registration form and to send it to ArtSoft (sales@artsoft.ru) or to your local dealer. You can invoke this form by choosing the Registration item of ArSKey's menu:

• Select the item and fill all required form fields. The "PIN" field is the code you've got from your dealer.

Here nnn is three digits.

Please keep your PIN code safely because for any future technical support the PIN is required. Also if you will change the owner's name of your HPC or reinstall the ArtSKey you will need to re-register (re-activate) it with your PIN code.

• Check the owner's name of your HPC before Registration form filling. It is important because the owner's name is a parameter of Registration procedure.
• After the form complete push "Create form" button. The "ArtSKey registration form.txt" file will be placed on the desktop of your HPC and should be sent by e-mail to ArtSoft or your local dealer.

In ArtSoft your PIN code will be verified and if OK an Activation code will be sent back to e-mail address you specified in Registration form. After that you should fill the Activation form you can invoke by choosing Activation item of ArtSKey's menu.

• Select this item and enter the Activation code. If the Activation code was entered correctly then after some actions the ArtSkey will ask you to restart your HPC.
• Reboot your HPC using a "Reset" button and the ArtSKey will work in normal (Activated) mode.

In this phase the ArtSKey works in fully normal mode without any functional limitations. Note: if you change the owner's name of your HPC then the ArtSKey returns back to demo mode. In this case you will need to re-register and re-activate your ArtSKey copy within two weeks period. After end of this period without activation the ArtSKey will stop work (keyboard layouts switching will be impossible - only original English). However Activation can be made in this state too.
